Weekly Newsletter

May 15, 2008

LITURGY will be on Friday, May 16th with grade 8 students as our leaders.  This will also be the mass for the 8th grade ribbon pinning. The next school Liturgy will be on Friday, May 23 with grade 1 as our leaders.

REMINDER:  Early release is on Friday, May 16.  Students will be dismissed at 11:25am.

MR. MELES’ SCHEDULE: Mr. Meles will be in school all day on Monday, May 19 and on Wednesday, May 21 as well as in the morning on Thursday, May 22.

UNIFORM DRESS STUDY:  During the 2007-08 school year an in-depth study on the possibility of requiring students to dress in some type of uniform was undertaken.  After considerable research and discussion, a decision has been reached by the All Saints Total Board of Education to not make such a requirement.  The present dress code will be retained.  As you are aware, both parents and students were surveyed about their feelings in this regard as a part of the study.  Generally speaking, schools of our size and environment do not have such a requirement either.

Some concerns have been expressed about some students not following all aspects of the present code as closely as they should, particularly when they attend liturgy.  Parents are asked to review this area with their child (ren) and make sure they understand the expectations.  Teachers will be doing the same and making available alternate garments for those not in compliance.

We would like to thank the members of the study committee who put in a great deal of effort on the project.  Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

CONSTRUCTION IN PARKING LOT:  Beginning Monday, May 19, some of the concrete is being replaced in sections of the parking lot.  Barricades will be placed at the entrances of the affected areas.  Parents are asked to drop off students on the street, either at the north driveway or the driveway between school and church.  This interruption will last about one week.  Thanks much for your cooperation.

GRADES 6, 7 & 8 will be walking to Denmark Memorial Park on Monday, May 19 at 11:30am to play softball with Wrightstown.  Students are to bring a bag lunch.  Grades 4 & 5 will be walking down after lunch to watch the game.  Please dress for the weather.  We have permission on file for your student to walk there.

NEW ZOO permission slips were sent home last week.  Please fill them out, sign them and return with the money.  If you are chaperoning this event, please include your park entrance money with your student’s money.  Your prompt payment is greatly appreciated.

8TH GRADE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:  We are proud of our 8th graders.  Through their class fundraising they have made a donation towards the “Go Joe Go” fund.  Joe Schiesl is a junior at Denmark High School who is in need of a liver transplant.  We would like to thank the 8th grade for taking their community service to heart and helping out Joe. Let’s keep Joe and his family in our prayers.

CONGRATULATIONS go out to Corinne Galligan, a graduate of All Saints, who is the Denmark High School Graduating Class of 2008’s Salutatorian. We would like to wish her luck in her future endeavors.

BOOKMOBILE BOB will be here on Monday, May 19th.

RAFFLE CALENDAR ANNOUNCEMENT: It is time to begin thinking of the Raffle Calendar again.  Although many of you only hear of this later in the fall, the planning and work for this begins well before the fall months!   There is much to do and we are looking to assemble a raffle calendar committee to complete the many tasks involved with this fundraising project.  Last year the parish and school raised $13,600 and we want to this to again be a very successful year, but we need everyone’s help.  Whether you like to talk with people in the community, stay at home and do some address researching or telephone calling, or are artistic and like to do design layouts, there are many options for your many talents in which you can partake in this project.  The following are the areas where help is needed to ensure this remains a successful fundraising event in 2009 for both our parish and our school.

The following are the assignments that we need volunteers to lead and complete:

·        Review and update the database of local business addresses

·        Create letter and complete mailing to area businesses

·        Complete calendar design/ layout

·        Call upon local businesses as follow-up

·        Distribution/ tracking of calendars during selling months

·        Schedule selling dates and line up volunteers to sell

·        Select winners throughout the year

If you are willing to help with any of these areas, please contact 863-3765.
